Online HTML Editor: Search, ZIP Import, Folders and Version History
Not everything needs an AI prompt. Sometimes you just want to change one phone number, swap a logo or fix a typo in line 840. The Hostilo editor in your dashboard now has the tools for that: search and replace, ZIP project import, files in folders and version history you can restore in one click.
Search and replace in the code
A page generated by AI easily has 1,000 lines. Instead of scrolling, press Ctrl+F (or click the magnifier in the toolbar). Matches are highlighted in the code and on the scrollbar.
| What | Windows / Linux | Mac |
|---|---|---|
| Search | Ctrl+F | Cmd+F |
| Next / previous match | Enter / Shift+Enter | Enter / Shift+Enter |
| Replace | Ctrl+Shift+F | Cmd+Alt+F |
| Replace all | Ctrl+Shift+R | Shift+Cmd+Alt+F |
| Go to line | Alt+G | Alt+G |
| Save | Ctrl+S | Ctrl+S |
Need something more precise? Type a regular expression between slashes, for example /tel:\+?[0-9 ]+/ finds every phone link.
Import a whole project from a ZIP
Built your site in another tool, or got a folder with index.html, CSS, JS and images from AI? Pack it into a ZIP and choose Import → Project from a ZIP file. Hostilo does the rest:
my-site.zip index.html css/style.css img/logo.png On Hostilo: index.html (your page) assets/css/style.css assets/img/logo.png <link href="css/style.css"> -> <link href="assets/css/style.css">
index.htmlbecomes your page. The previous version stays in History.- Every other file goes to
assets/, with its folders kept. - Paths in
index.htmlare fixed automatically, so styles and images work right away. - If everything is inside one folder (
my-site/index.html), that folder is skipped. - Before importing you see a summary: how many files, how many megabytes and which existing files will be replaced. You can also clear
assets/first. - Limits: ZIP up to 20 MB, up to 300 files, one file up to 10 MB. Hidden files and unsafe paths are skipped.
It also works the other way: Download .ZIP gives you the whole site with all files. Edit it on your computer and import it back.
Files in folders
- After an import the file list shows folders (
css, img,js) that you can open and close. - The filter box finds a file by name in a second.
- Upload new files straight into the folder you choose.
- Click a file to copy its path, or insert it into the code where the cursor is (an image becomes a ready
<img>tag).
Version history
Every save keeps the previous version. Click History to see the list and restore any of them.
- Hostilo keeps the last 10 versions of each page.
- Before restoring, the current code is saved as a version too, so nothing is lost.
- Versions are also created by AI publishing (MCP), ZIP imports and templates.
- If you are logged out after 15 minutes of inactivity, your unsaved changes are offered back the next time you open the editor.
Other handy buttons
- Format tidies indentation; Minify removes empty lines.
- Copy puts the whole code on the clipboard, for example to paste into ChatGPT or Claude.
- Import from URL pulls the HTML of a public demo page; Load opens an
.htmlfile from your disk.
Connect Hostilo to Claude or ChatGPT and let the AI make the big changes. Then open the editor, search for what you want to check and fix the details by hand. If something goes wrong, History brings back the previous version in one click.
Frequently asked questions
Are these features free?
Yes. Search, ZIP import, folders and history work on the free plan. PRO adds your own domain, more space and longer statistics.
What file types can I import?
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images (including SVG and WebP), fonts (woff, woff2, ttf, otf) and common text and data files. Other types are skipped and listed in the summary.
Will the import delete my current files?
No, unless you tick the option to clear assets first. Files with the same name are replaced, and the summary tells you how many before you confirm.
How many old versions can I restore?
The last 10 versions of each page. Older ones are removed automatically.
