Publish a Website Straight from Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity

You ask your AI for a landing page. It writes the code. Then comes the annoying part: copy, open a host, paste, save. With the Hostilo connector the AI does that last step too, and hands you a live link.

What the connector is

AI apps can now use outside services through MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard that Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Cursor and others support. Hostilo is an MCP server. Add it once, sign in, and your AI can see your Hostilo sites, create new ones and publish changes.

The address you need is one line:

https://hostilo.app/mcp

Set it up in one minute

Claude (web and desktop)

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Hostilo and paste https://hostilo.app/mcp.
  3. Click Connect. Hostilo opens: sign in the way you normally do (password, Google, two-factor) and click Allow.

Perplexity, ChatGPT and other apps

Look for custom connectors or MCP servers in the app's settings and add the same URL. The sign-in and consent screen are the same as in Claude. Which plans can add custom connectors is up to each app, so check their settings if you don't see the option.

Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code and Claude Code

// mcp.json (Cursor / Windsurf / VS Code)
{ "mcpServers": { "hostilo": { "url": "https://hostilo.app/mcp" } } }

# Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http hostilo https://hostilo.app/mcp

What you can ask for

Once connected, plain requests work. A few that we use ourselves:

The AI reads the current HTML, edits it, publishes it and replies with the live URL. Your site at name.hostilo.page updates immediately, with HTTPS.

What the AI can and cannot do

ToolWhat it does
list_sitesLists your sites and their live links.
get_siteReads the current HTML of a site so it can be edited.
create_siteCreates a new name.hostilo.page site (counts toward your plan's limit).
update_sitePublishes new HTML. The previous version is saved first.
publish_filesPublishes several files at once (index.html plus CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts). Other files go to assets/ and links are fixed.
import_zipImports a whole project from a ZIP (a public link or the file itself), the same way.
list_versionsShows the last 10 saved versions of a site.
restore_versionRolls a site back to an earlier version. This can be undone too.
get_site_statsShows page views and visitors; PRO adds countries, traffic sources, devices and top pages.

There is no delete tool. The AI cannot remove a site, change your password or touch billing. Deleting stays in the dashboard, where you do it yourself.

You stay in control

On the consent screen you see exactly what the app may do, and the app only gets the tools you allowed. It never sees your password. To cut access, open Dashboard → API & tools → AI connections and click disconnect; it stops working at once.

A few practical limits

Connector or API key?

If you use Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity or Cursor, pick the connector: no key to copy, per-permission consent, one-click disconnect. The REST API with an hk_ key is still there for your own scripts and custom agents.

Frequently asked questions

What is an MCP connector?
An open standard that lets AI apps use outside services. Hostilo implements it at https://hostilo.app/mcp.

Do I need an API key?
No. You sign in to Hostilo and approve the permissions. Nothing to copy or store.

Can the AI delete my sites?
No. There is no delete tool, and every publish keeps the previous version.

Does it work on the free plan?
Yes, with the same limits as the dashboard.

The AI published something I don't like. What now?
Ask it to restore the previous version, or restore it yourself in the editor's version history.
